Episode 126: Town Areas

Episode 126 is sort of another RPG focus, although there are definitely some non-RPG games out there that have non-level town areas in them (The Lone Ranger, Castlevania II, etc.).  Anyway, the music in this episode is really, really good.  Pound for pound, one of the most musically solid episodes in a while.  Towns are generally a safe place in a game, so you can also listen for that, and decide whether or not the music sounds like "safe" music.  Rob is crying in the photo.  Full track listing below.

  1. Jammin empisode, great music. Love Motoaki Takenouchi, ever since loving Landstalker back in the day

  2. Sad Brent burned the 7th Saga town track in the last RPG Part 1 episode... that would have mixed in nicely here.

  3. There has been a serious lack of 8-bit music in these parts recently! Only one track this episode, 4 in 125, 3 in 124, 3 in 123, and 2 in 121. There were a decent amount of Famicom tracks in 122, but I'd love to hear some more NES / Game Boy / Master System tracks represented in future episodes!

  5. Brent said he was really proud of the tracks he picked, but overall, I say Rob had the better tracks.

My favorite in this was Light Crusader - Aki Hata - Town - Treasure - Genesis - this was Rob's track. And the Motovia track from Phantasy Star 4 was really strong as well (also Rob's track). Rob takes this one.

  6. I want to share with fellow users a man who has uploaded thousands of videos of himself dancing to video game music. At one time he was uploading around 10 videos a day. The tracks he dances to range from classic to modern games. The following video is him dancing to the Zelda 2 town theme. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=BeXlDgJZXN8
