Episode 187: Rob's World

Rob finally returns and has a LOT to share about what’s being going on in his life, in this somewhat manly themed episode of the Legacy Music Hour.  Plus, a new segment: Prizes From Gabe.  Legacy Music Hour sound engineer Gabe Castro is kind enough to give Brent and Rob some neat prizes.  Also, another new segment: VGM Karaoke Face-Off.  Two different people sing along different lyrics to the same video game music track, and everyone decides who did a better job.  It’s a pretty action packed episode, not to mention the great music.  NOTE: The farting noise in this episode is a sound the equipment was making -not one of the boizz cutting loose.  Full track listing below.

  1. Sorry about the divorce, Rob, and about your leg. You're getting a rough break right now. Life is a roller coaster and I hope yours picks up soon. Keep on keeping on, and we can support you in many ways. If you need anything, just ask. A GoFundMe for your video game barbershop dream? Love y'all! Pieness' work is great!! Both were amazing. Maybe this competition format will inspire others

  2. Hey guys, long time user, first time commenter. Just wanted to send some extra lives to the F Switch today. Very sorry to hear about your troubles and I hope you can find some sort of compensation by continuing to share great tunes with hungry users like myself. Take care & thanks to both of you for 7 years of entertainment.

  3. To the Chiki Chiki Ganbare Double Dragon Bloody Wolf Boyzzzzz,

I came across this podcast in 2012 and it took me a couple episodes to get into it but when I got the dynamic and humor between Brent and Rob I was hooked. I've learned a great deal about game music and even other artists through the show. I came into the show at 21 and now as I come a few months towards my 27th I feel better for having been a user for so long.

I've had a great deal of ups and downs professionally and especially personally. Through lows of pregnancy scares, break ups, job loss, and financial troubles you've been with me. Through the highs of finding true love, graduating with my master's, finding out who I am, and cross country road trips you've been there for me. At a particularly low point in 2014 I listened to the entire backlog in a couple months while working out and kind of starting my life over again. It was a joyous time filled with the sounds of your voices and the soundtrack of Super Hang On. All of this helped me Outride a Crisis. Turning every song in an episode into a Milli Vanilli song or talking about sexy Genesis tracks always got me to laugh and has shaped my personality and humor. I became a person who ended up losing my mind over finding a T&E Soft Golf game when most of my friends wouldn't get it. I turn to the happiness the show brings me in the good and bad times and cherish the memories and laughs. The Youtube channel and live episodes are particularly enjoyable for me and can change most sour moods I find myself in.

We're all with you Rob. The broken leg and divorce are not easy things to go through on their own and the timing is even crueler. All the users are cheering you, you crazy man. Some day this will all be part of your story as you go home to be a family man. I hope whatever you're nexting is exactly what you need.

    Best wishes,

Kevin from Buffalo (soon to be moving to Kansas City)

  4. We all have to hit the reset button in life sometimes and start a new game. I've had to hit it on more than one occasion. Know that all the users wish you well and thank you for bringing joy, laughter, and good tunes into our lives. For an episode dealing with somber topics, the closing track was kind of funny because its so upbeat and bright. The Road Rash soundtrack is etched in my brain and is one of my favorites. I occasionally listen to it on long road trips. The Ski or Die title screen sounds a little bit like the Road Rash title screen. Link's Awakening and Minish Cap are extremely underrated Zelda games. What kind of bike would Mario and Luigi ride? Would they be able to afford a Ducati on a plumbers salary, or would they have to settle for a Vespa?

  5. Great to hear the Rob F. Switch back on the LMH! If you were meant to complete Timelord, then it will happen.

  6. Great 'sode boys, real solid tracks especially Xexex and Pachi-Slot World Cup '94.

Rob says 2 dudes on a bike is NBD. I visited a friend's sister on Rob's home turf of Port Town a few years back with a friend who purchased a moped while we were there for his sister. He decided we might as well cruise around the city on it. We were heckled all over.

  8. I liked the Karaoke face-off thing. I would also totally listen to an all dialogue episode. LMH go.

  9. I forgot to comment on this episode and express HOW MUCH WE MISSED YOU, ROB!

It's terrible that your winter has been so difficult. It's like you're going through your own literal and figurative ice level (because we all know those are just the worst). As you continue scrolling to the right I wish you the best and hope you get multiplayer support when you need it. And when you finally get through this frustrating stage, may your next one be more relaxing and fun. Maybe something tropical.

Also, I was listening to this episode in the vicinity of my husband who was asleep at the time, and I think I almost hurt myself from trying not to laugh out loud during the Switch segment. Rob's flair for storytelling kills me. SO GLAD to have you back, boi!
